Meeting opened by Russell Hopson with a moment of silence.
Michelle Witherspoon share about the success of Treat Street. Dan Crain shared that the Monday night youth group – Straight Forward – is going well. He also shared that neighborhood youth are playing flag football on Sunday afternoon at Price MS fields
Officer Smith and Officer Dupart from the COPS department reminded residents to be careful of their surroundings during the holiday season. Larry Witherspoon raised concerns about police check points in the neighborhood.
Russell Hopson announced that tomorrow is Election Day for mayor, city council and board of education. South Atlanta residents vote at Price Middle School. Russell also shared about the success of the South Side Community Forum. There were 14 candidates present and a great community turn out.
Katie Delp announced that the South Atlanta Christmas Celebration will be held during next month’s SACL meeting on December 2nd at 6pm at Community Life Church. All neighbors are invited to attend and asked to bring a side and/or dessert to share.
Russell Hopson announced that NPU-Y elections are Monday, November 18th. Any resident to who has attended three meetings in the past 12 months is eligible to vote.
Lavonna Jones with Metro Merge announced they are hosting a Bible study for entrepreneurs and business people on Mondays at 7:30pm at Metro Merge.
Angela Lerean asked about how to handle illegal dumping at Lansing and Bowen.
Kristi Wood asked why APD wasn’t sending a regular officer to the SACL meetings. Russell said he continues to put pressure on Major Cavendar to ensure we have better APD attendance at our meetings.
