Meeting opened by Russell Hopson with a moment of silence.
Russell and others shared about the Southern Fried Kickin’ Kickball Tournament.
Offices from the COPS department introduced themselves (Officer Smith, Officer Dupart and Officer Knight). They shared about the Cry Wolf program and the need for all residents to register their home alarm systems with APD by February 22, 2014 at www.crywolf.us/atlantaga/. Residents will begin being fines for false alarms.
The National Night Out again crime is August 6, 2013.
Joyce Sheppard has introduced legislation to help crack down on ATV vehicles within city limits
Claire Farley updated the body on several current cases she is working on.
Leslie Grant introduced herself. She is running for APS School Board Position One.
Russell Hopson announced there will be a Meet and Greet for Carla Smith and her city council re-election bid at his house on Thursday, August 8th from 7pm to 9pm.
Tanisha Corporal announced the South Atlanta Progressive Dinner is Saturday, August 17th from 6pm to 9pm. All in the neighborhood are welcome and she distributed maps for the evening’s festivities.
Katie Delp announced that the Beltline will be hosting the Southeast Beltline 8K run on September 28, 2013 and a part of the race will come through South Atlanta. A team from South Atlanta will be running/walking together and all are welcome to register online and join the team.
Kristi Wood shared the work she has done with the Lakewood LCI to improve the LCI’s plans concerning a road through South Atlanta Park. The road will connect Bisbee, Martin and Gammon Avenues, but will not be for vehicle use. The final vote for the LCI will be at August NPU-Y meeting.
